A Man Born Blind

Jesus
Heals A Man Born Blind
The
Lord with Peter, James and John were in Jerusalem. It was the Sabbath Day. And as they walked
along the way, they saw a man who could not see. He had been blind from birth. And Peter said,
“Lord, if disease and imperfections all are caused by sin, who was the sinner
in this case? The parents or the man himself?”
And Jesus said, “Afflictions all are partial payments on a debt or debts, that have been made. There is a law of recompense
that never fails, and it is summarized in that true rule of life: Whatsoever a
man shall do to any other person, somebody else will do the same to the man.
“In this we find the meaning of the covenant law, expressed concisely in
the words, a tooth for a tooth. Life for
a life. ’He who shall injure any one in thought, word or deed, is judged a
debtor to the law, and someone else shall, likewise, injure him in thought,
word or deed. And he who sheds the blood of any person will come upon the time
when his blood shall be shed by another man.
“Affliction is a prison cell in which a man must stay, until he pays his
debts, unless a master sets him free that he may have a better chance to pay
his debts. Affliction is a certain sign that one has debts to pay. Behold this
man! Once in another lifetime, he was a cruel man, and in a cruel way destroyed
the eyes of one, a fellow man. The parents of this man once turned their faces
on a blind and helpless man, and drove him from their door.”
Then Peter asked, “Do we pay off the debts of other men when by the Word we
heal them, drive the unclean spirits out, or rescue them from any form of sore
distress?”
And Jesus said, “We cannot pay the debts of any man, but by the Word we may release
a man from his afflictions and distress, and make him free, that he may pay the
debts he owes, by giving up his life in willing sacrifice for men, or other
living things. Behold, we may make this free man that he may better serve the
race and pay his debts.”
Then Jesus called the man and said, “Would you be free? Would you receive your
sight?”
The man replied, “All that I have would, I most freely
give if I could see.”
And Jesus took saliva, a bit of clay and made a cream, and put it on the blind
man's eyes. He spoke the Word and then He said, “Go to Siloam and wash, and as
you wash say, Jahhevahe. Do this for seven times and you shall see.”
The man was led unto Siloam. He washed
his eyes and spoke the word, and instantly his eyes were opened and he saw. The
people who had seen the man for many years sit by the way and beg, were much
surprised to see him see. They said, “Is this not man, the Job, that was born
blind, who sat beside the way and begged?”
He heard them talk among themselves, and replied, “Yes, I am he.”
The people asked, “How were you healed? Who opened up your eyes?”
He said, “A man whom people call Jesus, made a cream of clay and put it on my
eyes, and bade me wash in Siloam and say a word, seven times. I did as He commanded me, and now I see.”
A certain scribe was passing, and he saw the man and heard him say that Jesus,
by the Word, had opened up his eyes. He therefore took the man up to the
synagogue, and told the story to the priests, who asked the man about the
miracle.
The man replied, “I never saw the light until today, for I was blind from
birth.
This morning as I sat beside Siloam, a man I never knew put on my eyes a cream
that people say he made of clay. He bade
me bathe my eyes in water and say a word, seven times. I did as He commanded and I started seeing.”
A lawyer asked the man, “Who was the person that opened up your eyes?”
The man replied, “Some people say, His name is Jesus and that He came from
Galilee. But others say, He is the son
of God.”
A Pharisee came up and said, “This is the Sabbath Day. A man who does a work like this, regarding
not the Sabbath Day, is not from God.”
Some of the priests were much amazed and said, “A wicked man could never do a
miracle like this. He must possess the
power of God.” And so they strove among themselves.
They asked the man, “What do you think about this man from Galilee?”
He said, “He is a prophet sent from God.” Now, many of the Israelites did not
believe the man was blind from birth.
They said, “There is no power to open up the eyes of one born blind.”
And then they brought the parents of the man before the Pharisees that they
might testify. The parents said, “This is our son who was born blind. We do not know how he received his sight. He is of age and he can tell. Ask him.”
The parents were afraid to say what they believed, that Jesus is the Christ who
came to manifest the power of God, lest they offend the priests and be cast out
from the synagogue.
Again the rulers said, “This Jesus is a wicked man.” The man who had been
healed stood forth again and said, “This Jesus, whether He is a sinner or a
saint, I do not know. But this one thing
I know. I once was blind, but now I
see.”
And then the Scribes and Pharisees reviled the man and said, “You are a
follower of this man from Galilee. We
follow Moses, but this man, we do not know Him, and we do not know where He
comes from.”
The man replied, “It is a marvel that you do not know where He comes from, and
yet He opened up my eyes. You know that
nothing but the power of God can do such things. God does not hear the prayer
of sinners, and you surely know that a wicked man cannot utilize the power of
God.”
The Pharisees replied, “You wretch! You were begotten and were born in sin, and
now you try to teach the law to us.” And then they cast him away from the
synagogue.
Jesus
Meets And Teaches The Man Born Blind
When
Jesus heard what had been done and how the priests had cast the man whom he had
healed, out of the synagogue, He found the man and said to him,
“Do you believe in God and in the son of God?”
The man replied, “I do believe in God.
But who is he, the son of God, of whom you speak?”
And Jesus said, “The son of God is He who speaks
to you.”
The man inquired then, “Why do you say, the son of God? Is there but one?”
And Jesus said, “All men are sons of God by birth. God is the Father of the race. But all are not the sons of God by
faith. He who attains the victory over
self is son of God by faith, and he who speaks to you has overcome, and he is
called son of God, because he is the pattern for all humanity, who are the
children of God. He who believes and does the will of God is son of God by
faith.”
The man in joy exclaimed, “Lord, I believe in God, and in the son of God.”
And Jesus said, “I came to open prison doors, to make the blind to see. But, behold, the Pharisees are blind from
birth. And when I put the cream of truth upon their eyes, and bid them go and
wash, and speak the sacred Word, they will not go. They love darkness.”
Jesus The Good
Shepherd
And Jesus Christ said, “Truly, truly, I say to
you, he who does not enter the sheepfold by the door but climbs in by another
way, that man is a thief and a robber; but he who enters by the door is the
shepherd of the sheep. To him the gatekeeper opens; the sheep hear his voice,
and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. When he has brought out
all his own, he goes before them, and the sheep follow him, for they know his
voice. A stranger they will not follow, but they will flee from him, for they
do not know the voice of strangers.” This figure Jesus used with them, but they
did not understand what he was saying to them.
So Jesus
again said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep.
All who came before me are thieves and robbers; but the sheep did not heed
them. I am the door; if any one enters by me, he will be saved, and will go in
and out and find pasture. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I
came that humanity may have life, and have it abundantly. I am the good
shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. He who is a
hireling and not a shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, sees the wolf coming
and leaves the sheep and flees; and the wolf snatches them and scatters them.
He flees because he is a hireling and cares nothing for the sheep. I am the
good shepherd; I know my own and my own know me, as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I lay down my life for the sheep. And I have
other sheep, that are not of this fold; I must bring
them also, and they will heed my voice. So there shall be one flock, one
shepherd. For this reason the Father loves me, because I
lay down my life, that I may take it again. No one takes it from me, but I lay
it down of my own accord. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take
it again; this charge I have received from my Father.”
There was
again a division among the Jews because of these words. Many of them said, “He has a demon, and He is
mad; why listen to Him?” Others said, “These are not the sayings of one who has
a demon. Can a demon open the eyes of the blind?”
Explanation
The Head: Jesus
sent Himself to do the work of salvation. It was God Almighty that came to the world
in the person of Jesus Christ. He was saying, “The Father sent me,” for people to
understand according to their low spiritual levels.
When People Are Sick
Apostle Matthew: There
are powers of the Holy Spirit in the word of God. The sick people should not stay
at home on the Sabbath Day or during the Midweek Prayer. They should attend prayers
and worship, because the word of God cleanses the body, heals the sick,
delivers from bondage and makes a person grow in spirit and in truth.
The Same Powers
Apostle Matthew: The same powers given to the ancient Saints of God is what
Jesus Christ is giving to the modern ministers of God and children of God.
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow.
Steadfastness
Apostle Matthew: The children of God should be zealous in working for God. They
should follow the footstep of the FirstSon of God, Jesus Christ, in spirit and
in truth. They should not be looking at people, whether others like it or not, whether
others join in doing what God said or not. They should remain focused and steadfast
in doing what God said.
By The Powers Of The Holy Spirit
Question: But is
saliva defiled?
Apostle Matthew: In the physical realm, science says that saliva is defiled,
not clean.
But what of the spiritual realm?
A holy person is a holy person. The person, who keeps the
rites of holiness, is holy.
Son of man, on many occasions, the Apostles were healing
various sicknesses, because they observed the rites of holiness. It was not the
saliva that healed the man. It was the holy powers in the saliva, because Jesus
Christ is holy and full of the powers of the Holy Spirit.
In spirit, the saliva is the word of God. Son of man, any
person who is holy, anything the person uses is also holy. The Hosts of Angels
and Saints of Heaven who follow the holy person are holy. And all things the
person uses to do work become sanctified and holy.
That is why the garments of St Paul De Evangelist was
healing people. Even his handkerchief and shadow were healing sick people, because
the powers of the Holy Spirit are in the garment, handkerchief and shadow.
The water used in bathing baby Jesus Christ was heading various
sicknesses and performing deliverances. When Jesus Christ was a child, what he
intended to grow where he stepped his feet on the ground, did grew at the very
place.
The materials, vessels and tools used by a holy man also become
holy and powerful, because the powers of the Holy Spirit transfer from the holy
man into those materials, vessels and tools. That is why an ordinary water become
holy water, when blessed by a holy man. The very power of the person, and also
his spirit, enter into whatever he uses or touches.
The very important lesson is this: the children of God should
live holy life, by keeping the rites of holiness, so that all things shall become
holy.
God can use anything that he has created to do work. It is the
power of the Holy Spirit that uses various things and Saints to do work, just
as the electricity makes various devices to perform various services.
